Egyptian quartz: grades, sourcing and export guide

2026-09-05

Egyptian high-purity quartz is a strategic raw material for glass and engineered stone. This guide covers the grades, the sourcing geography, and how export shipments are packed and documented.

Why source quartz from Egypt?

Egypt sits on some of the region's richest quartz deposits. The quartz we export is mined at Mount Kamiliya in Ain Sokhna, Suez — a source known for SiO₂ purity above 99.5% with very low iron content. Low iron is what glassmakers and engineered-stone producers pay for: it means clearer glass and whiter, brighter quartz slabs.

Egypt's geography adds a logistics advantage: the deposit lies close to the port of Sokhna, one of the country's main Red Sea container gateways, keeping inland transport short and export lead times competitive for Europe, the Gulf, Asia, and East Africa.

Grades and applications

Four particle grades are available, each with full ICP analysis and grain distribution data: 45 µm powder (fillers, ceramics), 100–300 µm (glass batches, engineered stone), 300–700 µm (engineered quartz slabs, glass), and 700–1200 µm (engineered stone, casting). SiO₂ runs 99.5–99.7% across the grades with whiteness (L value) between 83 and 93.5+.

If you manufacture engineered quartz surfaces, Egyptian raw quartz pairs naturally with Egyptian-made slabs — many of our buyers source both from one country to consolidate logistics.

Packing, documentation and shipping

Quartz aggregate ships in 25/50 kg bags, 1–1.5 t big bags, or in bulk — container-loaded and shipped FOB from Egyptian ports. Every shipment carries a certificate of analysis; certificate of origin, commercial invoice, packing list, and bill of lading complete the standard document set.

Before you order, request the datasheet for your target grade and confirm the particle-size distribution matches your process — especially for glass furnaces and slab production lines where the feed gradation affects yield.

How to start

Tell us the grade, monthly tonnage, and destination port. We will reply with pricing, availability, and a packing proposal — and can arrange a sample shipment or third-party inspection before your first order.
